Under the production of guitarist Tony Iommi - again recorded in England - the band the band went for a direct, aggressive sound. Tony Iommi explained that part of the concept was to return to "rock'n'roll." The cover artwork is considered one of the worst in rock history, the Band claims to have believed that they were rehearsal recordings, which is why no value was placed on the wardrobe.
